Final Abstract for URS Program

This study explores American perspectives on environmental and social issues through an open-ended survey with approximately 10,000 responses. Participants were asked to prioritize between environmental and social issues and to explain their reasoning. The responses were qualitatively coded based on seven main variables: choice between social and environmental concerns, perceived immediacy of effects, motivation (intrinsic or extrinsic), solvability of issues, perceived connection between social and environmental problems, appeal to future generations, and presence of conspiratorial or denial views.
