Abstract
This poetry and translation thesis is composed of 18 original poems and 18 poetry translations that explore themes including desire, isolation, imagination, connection, displacement, and destruction. The original poems begin the thesis, followed by translations from Spanish by Jorge Luis Borges, Norah Lange, and Pablo Neruda, ending with translations from Yiddish by Celia Dropkin, Berl Lapin, and Pessie Pomerantz-Honigbaum. Berl Lapin published translations of Emily Dickinson poems into Yiddish in 1940, and I translated his translations back into English.
