Abstract
Missing Things is a collection of three fiction stories: Lost in Acapulco County, Missing Things, and The Pact. Thematically, each story deals with loss and human suffering. Lost in Acapulco County is a coming of age story about a boy named Danny Wayne growing up in a methamphetamine riddled town in rural Missouri. After his family is robbed, Danny suspects his sister’s boyfriend Calvin. When his older brother Larry gets out of jail on parole, Danny witnesses the dark heart of rural justice. Missing Things is about an older woman living in a retirement home who is trying to cope with her husband’s dementia. The Pact is about the loss of innocence of a boy living with an alcoholic father.
