Final Abstract for URS Program

This study examines the portrayal of women in the Bible, focusing on their depiction as courageous and independent figures. While traditional interpretations often highlight the subordinate roles of women, closer examination reveals a nuanced narrative that showcases their strength, resilience, and autonomy. Through analysis of key biblical stories such as those of Eve, Deborah, and Ruth, this study elucidates instances where women defy societal norms, exhibit remarkable courage, and take active roles in shaping their destinies. These women challenge conventional gender roles and emerge as influential agents in biblical narratives, demonstrating qualities of leadership, determination, and faith. By shedding light on these narratives, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the diverse representations of women in ancient texts and underscores the enduring relevance of their stories in contemporary discourse on gender equality and empowerment.
